Sit Down and Write 3--Check In #1

How's it going, people? Me...well, I'm off to a slow start. Some of you may not know that I work from home as a Virtual Assistant. Well, this past week, I got my first very own client. Woot! So, it's great on the money end, but my time is squeezed even more. I'm determined though to get some writing in.

Post your progress or links to book reviews in the linky. Keep on truckin' toward your goals (aimed particularly at myself. LOL)!

Write-a-Thon Update (and ROW80 Mid-Week Check-In)

Things have not gone quite as planned...of course.  I've been working on this project for work for a week and a half and we're at crunch time now.  It's due Friday! So, my day time hours have been devoted to that.  Add in the four hours I spend in the car doing the pick up/drop off at school for my sons (they go to two separate schools now) and the evening homework, meals, etc. (my husband works 2nd shift so he's not home to help) and my time is literally squat.  And I'm exhausted so when I get the down time, I'm beat and falling asleep! Okay...buck up, Michelle.  Time for some serious readjustment to the rest of this week which will probably involve some burning of the midnight (all night) oil.  Hope I'm up to the challenge.  I will get words on paper this week, even if it's not as much as I had originally planned.

So, how is everyone else doing?  Leave me a comment and let me know what you've accomplished during the write-a-thon...or leave a link to your update post.

Happy writing!

ROW80 Check-In 10/19/11...NaNoWriMo Bound!

I am terrible at these twice a week check-ins! In fact, it seems I have trouble checking in at all.  I guess I feel like if I have nothing to report, then who cares....but, I have to learn that checking in is an accountability step so I vow to at least check-in once a week.  Maybe I can handle that!

I haven't been doing much that I planned for my original goals.  I've been reading a lot of review books and that has been taking up my time.  Here was what my original plan:

--2 hours daily for research and planning
--1-2 hours daily for reading on the craft
--1/2 hour daily for journaling (preferably in the morning)

Okay, so I have not done any of what I planned.  However, I'm going to do a temporary goal list until NaNoWriMo starts.  Then we know what that daily goal is...yikes!

--I'm participating in two read-a-thons this weekend, starting Friday so I plan to make reading books on the craft a big part of that.  This will be Friday through Sunday.
--Next week, starting Monday and going through Thursday, I will be going to the library every day while the kids are at school to read and research.  I figure this will give me about 4-5 hours, if I go at 10 every day when the library opens.
--Monday, October 31...not sure if I'll get library time in due to kids' school Halloween parties, but we'll see.  Might be able to squeeze in a couple of hours of last minute planning.

On a side note, I had another inspiration today for a story idea so I will be deciding which one will be more feasible to run with for NaNoWriMo.  I have some books here in my home library that can get me started so I can hopefully decide before I hit the library.

Also, I did do some writing recently.  I wrote a guest post for my friend's blog, Midnyte Reader.  It's a real-life account of a horrific experience I had.  You can read it HERE.

On a final note, for those of you who are doing NaNoWriMo this year, I have created a group on the NaNo forums in NaNo Groups in the Writing Groups and Clubs section.  The ROW80 Writers can be found HERE.  AND Lena Corazon has created a NaNo support group, Fun Not Fear! Thanks, Lena! Check it out HERE.

ROW80--Round 1 Final Check-In

Although I did not accomplish as much as I wanted this round, I did at least dip my toes back into the world of journaling, which is one thing I have been wanting to do.  I am looking forward to the next round.  Although I feel I could have done more, I am looking at it like Round 1 was a warm-up for Round 2.  I'm going to spend the break getting organized with my to do list and brainstorming more story ideas.  So here's to Round 2! Let the journey continue.....

ROW80 Check-In: 1/5/2011

I tried to do this update last night, before midnight, but blogger was not cooperating.  Anyway, I am still very much in the planning stage and I'm having to re-evaluate the time I had originally planned on.  I'm finding 1.5 hours too much to commit to with everything going on in my life right now.  So I'm still in planning mode, but I'm dropping my time to one hour per day, six days per week.  Also, 365andMe shared some excellent planning/plotting methods on her blog so I'm thinking of giving them a try.  Thanks! I am still very much committed to this challenge...just have had a bit of a slow start.
